The Phoenix Knights found themselves locked in battle with Rugby for the wooden spoon in 2019. They struggled somewhat including with team selection but did ultimately manage to stave off Rugby is the real sport. A much stronger performance in 2020 included a table topping appearance and a playoff spot where they were knocked out by eventual champions Muswell Hillbillies. 2021 was more similar to 2019 for Phoenix as they found themselves in the playouts but were able to maintain their top flight status with a victory over FSW Trainees. The Knights had another tough year in 2022 as they found themselves in the playouts on points scored. Phoenix stepped up when it mattered though with a victory against Part Timers and confirmation of another year in D1. A rebound year in 2023 saw Phoenix reach the final for the first time. A strong season and an 8-6 record put them in the playoffs where they upset the favoured Anomalies. The Knights put up a creditable performance but the experience of Voodoo Volunteers told. Nevertheless, 2nd place was the franchise's best result to date. The finalists curse struck in 2024 though. Phoenix were flirting with trouble all year and a losing streak to end the season ended their stay in D1. The mantra of focusing on winning week 15 did not work as they were significantly outscored by Darkstalkers and consigned to D2 for the first time.
